Skin quality and hydration treatment

Profhilo is not a conventional dermal filler. It is used to improve skin quality, hydration and elasticity in patients whose main concern is dullness, laxity or crepey skin rather than loss of volume. The result is usually a fresher, better hydrated look rather than a change in facial shape.

Profhilo

A skin-quality treatment rather than a volumising filler

Profhilo is an injectable treatment containing hyaluronic acid. Unlike traditional filler treatments, it is not primarily used to create volume or alter contour. The main aim is to improve hydration, skin texture and overall skin quality in patients noticing early laxity, dullness or a more tired skin appearance.

It tends to suit patients who feel their skin quality has declined but who do not necessarily want fuller cheeks, lips or stronger facial shaping. It can work as a standalone treatment or sit alongside a broader facial rejuvenation plan.

  • Designed to improve hydration and skin quality
  • Not intended to add volume like a conventional filler
  • Commonly used where skin tone and elasticity have declined
  • Usually delivered as a treatment course rather than a one-off appointment

Areas commonly treated

The most common treatment areas are those where skin quality, hydration and elasticity have started to decline.

Face

For patients noticing a duller, less hydrated or less elastic skin quality.

Neck

Often chosen where the skin has become finer, looser or more crepey.

Hands

Where hand skin is beginning to look thinner or less hydrated.

Décolletage

Where the chest skin has started to lose elasticity.

Consultation and suitability

The main question is whether your concern is really skin quality, or whether something else is more important, for example facial volume loss, skin pigmentation, static wrinkles or more significant laxity. Profhilo can be very useful in the right patient, but it is not a substitute for every other rejuvenation treatment.

Consultation is therefore used to assess skin quality, discuss realistic outcomes, explain the treatment course and decide whether a standalone Profhilo plan makes sense or whether it should sit alongside another approach.

What is usually discussed

Your main concern

Hydration, texture, laxity, dullness, or a more tired skin appearance.

Treatment areas

Face, neck, hands, chest and other suitable areas depending on skin quality.

Treatment course

Normally two sessions, four weeks apart.

Expected change

Fresher, better hydrated skin rather than a change in contour.

Maintenance

Longevity and maintenance of treatment results.

Subtle change, not obvious alteration

This is usually a good fit for patients who want a freshening treatment rather than a more dramatic reshaping treatment.

Profhilo works best when the goal is improved skin quality, hydration and elasticity. It is not designed to create volume or sharpen facial contours, and that should be clear from the outset. Framed that way, it sits very naturally on your main site.

Frequently asked questions

Not in the usual sense. It contains hyaluronic acid, but it is not mainly used to add volume or reshape facial contours.

The most commonly discussed areas are the face and neck, and it may also be used on the hands, décolletage and inner arms in selected patients.

A course of two treatments, usually four weeks apart, is commonly recommended.

The effect develops over the following weeks as skin quality improves, rather than appearing immediately.

Many patients discuss maintenance at around six months, although timing varies depending on response and preference.
